Chapter 11: Pity

06/24/2022

Aku sat down confused in a cold sweat.

*Smash*

'God Damnit!'

He slowly stood up, balancing himself.

'I can't even kill a damn clone of her!'

Aku started to limp as he walked away holding his wound.

'How long does this shit last. If only I were smarter I would've been more prepared!'

*Footsteps*

Aku heard someone running towards him. He slowly puts his hand on his katana.

The Raven walks around the corner.

'Thank god.'

He loosened his grip on the handle. He looks to see she has a briefcase.

"Wait, did you get the package?"

She was silent.

"Yes I did but..."

*Slash*

"That wasn't the end of my mission."

Aku's cheek starts to bleed.

'That was even faster than when we fought earlier.'

He pulled out his katana and immediately his Shiryoku was out.

"You might be wondering how I got the new material..."

"Yeah I am, but I'm more concerned about what the hell you're up to."

"I killed him."

"Huh? How?"

"It's simply really..."

The air tensed up around them.

"I started trying."

The raven's power became intense.

'There's no way. She's had that the whole time!'

"How do you like it? My Karada suits me best doesnt it?"

'A Karada can enhance and shape a person's body and physical strength, but her scent it's definitely human so how?'

"You probably have many questions but-"

She appeared in front of him.

"They'll have to wait."

Aku fell to his back as he barely dodged The Raven. He pulled out his katana blocking her next attack.

'She's fast. She's fast!'

"What's wrong Dark Child? Too fast for you?"

'Don't focus on her, focus on...'

*Footsteps*

'The noise she makes!'

Suddenly Aku's Demon's Aspect went dark. He was in state of mind only the weak can touch.

-Desperation-

'What the? His Aspect?'

Raven stopped in her tracks.

"Why'd you stop?"

Aku stood up bloody asking the question.

"I've decided to let you live."

The Raven stopped using her Karada. She turned away from Aku, dropping a piece of paper. She walked away from Aku turning a corner seemingly disappearing.

'That piece of paper was a last resort in case I decided to spare him, but at that moment it didn't feel like that was his Demon's Aspect. It didn't matter where or how I attacked him...'

Aku's Shiryoku went away.

'He would've killed me!'

Aku looked down at the piece of paper and picked it up. It read.

'If you're reading this I've decided to spare your life. I'll tell my father that you bested me and that you helped get the package. With this I know that the next time we meet I won't be so easy on you. Also-'

Aku crumpled the paper without a second thought.

'I...lost again?'

Aku held his wound and started to walk away as he felt his wound start to heal.

'It doesn't add up either way she should have killed me there. It would've been more helpful to Boss which could only mean me being alive must have been an ultimatum. They plan to use me again.'

Aku throws the piece of paper away as he starts to walk home.

'I'm still not strong enough.'

He pulled off his mask and fixed his jacket, sliding his katana back into its holder, walking into a crowd of people.

'I need to get stronger to protect Yaki.'
