Chapter 19: Eye
*Beep*
*Beep*
*Beep*
* Light Wheezing*
'My body feels hollow.'
A girl's eyes opened up as her surroundings seemed like a patient's room, while the constant beeping sounded like she was in a muffled studio.
*Creak*
A glass cup was broken on the floor as a nurse opened the door, her eyes were filled with an ounce of horror.
"She's awake!"
The nurse cried out as she ran out the room.
'Where am I?'
The girl thought to herself not even noticing the nurse's hollers nor the glass breaking at her door. As the noise around her became more clear she noticed a nurse within the room coming and sitting down at her bedside.
"You poor child…"
The lady brushed back the girl's hair with her hand. Looking at her with a sense of fear and a professional calm facial expression. She watched as a dark shadow seemed to have seeped out between the white bars in her right eye. It was her Shiryoku unlike any other.
"You're Shiryoku is otherworldly-like Yaki."
The nurse said as she turned away and threw up violently.
"I'm sorry…your shiryoku has unseen side effects. We've had to send 3 nurses home because your Demon's Aspect has some unforeseen side effects on others."
She wiped her face with a napkin and threw it out along with her gloves.
"My name is Paisley, Paisley Winters."
Yaki was silent as the noise still sounded like a dream. Another nurse walked in with a familiar presence behind her.
"Dr. Winters he's here…"
A man walked in behind her as both the nurses turned towards the door leaving. Right before they left Dr. Winters whispered in the man's right ear.
'I don't know who this is but yet…
Yaki looked at the man.
'He feels familiar.'
"Yaki Yami, from what I understand you seem to have either memory loss or no idea what is going on correct?"
*Silence*
"My name is Tarin. I was the one who saved you from the hole your brother almost put the two of you in."
Yaki sits up a little straighter as she grabs out for the water next to her bed.
"Aku?"
Taking another look at the man she feels a sense of comfort.
"Is my brother alive?"
"Aku is in good health only being unconscious, might even wake up soon."
"Good…"
She thought of Natsuki
"...I'm glad."
"Yaki I have a question for you."
"Yes?"
"What happened to you and your brother to have your shiryoku be forced open?"
"Shiryoku?"
"By now I presume you know your brother is a demon, correct?"
"...yes?"
She remembered watching her brother's blood be spilled from behind a bush.
"Well you are also a Demon, a rarity too it seems-"
Yaki fell silent so did her world she had quick suspicions but for it to be told to her it was impossible to believe.
"Your right eye is called a Shiryoku, an ability given to demons alike from their Demon's Aspect. Yours was powerful, powerful enough I felt it. What stumps me is you have no memory of it and yet your shiryoku is still out."
"Why?"
Tarin was stumped with the question as to what it was pertaining to exactly.
"Why am I a Demon?"
Yaki's left eye started to tear up. Tarin then grabbed a hand mirror and reached out towards her.
"I don't know what you've been through Yaki but I promise I will tell you everything if you tell me what happened."
Yaki looked into the mirror, seeing her right eye was nothing but darkness with what seemed to be 4 white bars hollowing out along with the darkness seeping out.
'Why…?'
