Chapter 21: Selfish

Aku grabbed the door handle and pulled with little knowledge on how his sister would react towards him after everything.

'I saved her…'

He thought back to her killing Eren.

'...right?'

He walked out into the hallway of the hospital as a nurse looked at him.

"Sir? May I ask you to go back your-"

Aku gave her slight look of death. She looked away and grabbed a bag walking around a corner.

'My scent is off but there's no doubt she's in the room.'

He put his hand on the door but it felt off like there was evil on the other side of this door.

'What's in there?'

*Creeeak*

Aku felt the room's darkness as it was infected with a dark and strong atmosphere. It all came directly from the bed where laid a bundle of blankets that obviously showed someone was hiding under them. He stood in front of the door as he closed it, remained where he was he built up courage to even utter her name.

"Ya-yaki?"

There was no reply.

"Yaki I…I know you're in here,"

Again the room was silent.

"...I wanted to tell you that…I'm sorry,"

He laid back on the door while remaining standing.

"For how this all turned out. I'm sorry I wasn't strong enough to protect you."

He held his face with one hand.

"I'm sorry you found out this way…"

A few tears trickled down his cheeks.

"I'm sorry I let my guard down…"

"I don't want to hear it."

Aku looked up as he saw his sister in the dimly lit room with bandages on her cheek, he saw her right eye with it being the source of the atmosphere that surrounded the room.

"I'm sick of this selfless brother act. You're an idiot, a liar, and worst of all a demon."

Aku looked down in shock.

"You should've told me that I was a demon, you put lives in danger, you got my Natsuki killed, and now your in a hospital room in god knows where saying fucking sorry. Saying sorry won't change the years of your selfish choices to only protect me and you from the world we should've belonged in."

Yaki's left eye was pouring tears as her head was hanging.

"You are a selfish demon and nothing more!"

Yaki looked back at the door and saw her brother had left the room.

"Aku?"

Yaki laid back down looking at the ceiling. 

She cried.

'What am I doing? How did this all happen?'

She could only think of Natsuki and her memories with her.

Her face.

'Why her?'

Aku sat back on the floor laying his back and head on the door within his patient room. Looking up to the ceiling of the room he only thought back on the beginning.

A woman laid on the floor with tears in her eyes held a boy's face.

"Look after your sister, and make sure above all she is safe."

"No mom, get up. I can't do it!"

"I love you Aku but know this Love is a scary thing that is willing to hurt anyone in its sight. I've lost to love but you mustn't do the same! You will love your sister and keep her safe because my love for the two of you is greater than any strength on this earth, now please Aku please run!"

A little Aku ran out of the house holding his baby sister looking into her eyes with nothing but love and anger.

"I will always protect you Yaki for mom!"

The baby started to cry as the rain fell on the two of them.

"I swear to it no matter what I have to do, even if I have to sacrifice myself like mom and dad I'll keep you safe so don't cry."

"What happened?"

A present day Aku thought as his tears went away.

'As long as they are looking for us she won't ever be safe.'

Aku looks out the window that is above his bed.

"I'll kill them all no matter how, no matter who they are I'll kill them all."
