Chapter 28: Enter Zefi

Amon walked next to Sally as they were making their way through a hall. He stretched his neck and right arm as they were sore from the trip there and being tied up.

'These halls are confusing. Feels like a maze with every zig and zag we take.'

"This is Ani's room!"

Amon looked inside as Ani was sitting at what seemed to be a computer but there was nearly a hundred monitors and one big one in the middle. Sally had dazzling hands as Ani stood up from her ginormous computer setup. Ani walked towards the opened door and.

Sally then continued walking down the hall as Amon began to follow.

"Ani is a bit of a bitch sometimes but once you get to know her you won't think she's that bad."

"Yeah…can't wait."

'How'd I get stuck here?'

Amon thought secretly as they took a turn looking into a room that was almost all blue except for the white rug. Archie suddenly appeared with nothing but a towel on he leaned against the doorway with his wet slickback hair.

'This guy.'

"This is Archie's room! Look at it, isn't it…so…him?"

"Hey…newbie."

'Man, he is trying. I can't tell who he's putting the hots on me or her.'

"Hello Archer? A pleasure to meet you."

Amon stuck out his hand formally.

Archie looked at it.

"Pleasure to meet you too."

*Door closes*

"Well uh…that's Archie I don't know why he's acting like that usually he's kind of a...well kind of a nerd."

Sally flicked her hair as she looked at Amon.

"Two more rooms to go!"

She grabbed his arm and ran down a few more tight corners, as she suddenly stopped and peeked around a corner.

'What is she looking at?'

"Wha-"

"Shhh-"

She waved him to get closer as he peeked over.

"That's LOUD MOUTH's room, he's taking a nap right now I'm sure of it. Believe it or not, he's a big baby but don't get on his bad side."

She quit whispering as she continued to walk down more halls.

"You know Amon you're quite the guy."

"How so?"

"I read up on your file before grabbing ya and even managed to do some personal research. Heard you drove the ladies crazy in your school days huh?"

Amon blushed slightly thinking of the past.

"That's a little unprofessional don't you think?"

"Oh Amon you'll soon find out that this place is about as far from professional as you can get, but you want to know the best part?"

"What's that?"

She put her arms around his shoulders.

"You can't ever leave."

She smiled as she let go and turned around.

"This is your room."

She unlocked it and opened the door Amon looked over at the door right across from his supposed room.

"Who's room is that?"

"That's mine."

'I'm starting to begin to think she has other plans with me.'

"Let's head back to the commons newbie. You can pick out your color pallet when you get back."

Sally started to walk back as Amon followed close by.

'I do not want to get lost in this hell hole.'

Amon sat down at a round table as Sally paced back and forth in front of a holographic board.

"This division is not like the rest, no! We have a successful mission rate of 98.9%, so I'd say we are pretty trustworthy if I do say so myself. However, we've completed 20 Rank 5's, 0 Rank 4's, 59 Rank 3's, and 14 Rank 2's. The boards never gave us a Rank 1 mostly because they are rare but it seems some Rank 1's have come out of hiding that's one of the reasons we decided to get another member on the team,"

'She sure seems excited.'

"After a while of convincing Zefi, he told me he found someone. That someone is you, Newbie!"

'Zefi? She must mean Zefu. After all, this did all start because of him recruiting me besides where even is he in this mess of a division?"

"Why, I'm right here Amon."

Amon slightly jumped looking behind him, seeing Zefu.

"ZEFII!"

Sally jumped on him, losing her serious look with a smile of pure joy.

"What did I tell you about that nickname Sally?"

"That you love it."

She smiled as Amon started to notice the others funnel in like dogs.

"Zefu, I ran some research on Almond Street. There has been a monster hotspot recently discovered in that area that could be worth checking out."

Ani said creeping up behind Amon.

"Hey, Zefu you see about that new gear they kept promising us?"

Archie said as he made an entrance.

"QUIT PARADING THE BOSS! LEARN PRIVATE SPACE YOU MAGGOTS!"

"Hey calm down Linen, it's not like I'm tearing his clothes off."

Sally said letting go of Zefu.

"Yeah, she only does that to me."

"In your dreams Archie."

Archer went quiet as he sat down at the table.

"Where's Quiet girl?"

Sally asked looking around, Amon wondered what she meant, but suddenly he felt a strong gaze. He turned around to see a girl who couldn't have been as old as everyone else, she crouched like a cat looking up at him through her long black hair like a horror character. Her hair was somewhat healthy but looked stringy as it covered her whole face and went down to her chest. She wore a plain black beanie on her head and her clothes seemed to have come from a designer's store.

'What the?'

Amon gave an odd look to the girl.

"Don't scare off the newbie Shojia (Cho-gee-a)."

Sally said as Shojia disappeared from their sight to suddenly being next to Zefu's legs sitting like a cat still. Sally got in front of Amon.

"Sorry about her. Her name is Shojia but to play it safe you should probably call her Quiet Girl. She usually stays next to Zefu's side only but I guess she wanted to see you."

Zefu pet Shojia's head.

"You four get ready for an extermination mission, I'll handle Amon for the time being."

The four all walked away.

"See you newbie!"

Archie said as he walked through the halls. Amon looks back at Zefu as Shojia has disappeared again.

"Follow me, Amon."

Zefu turned around as Amon quickly took a step after him.

'A mission with these guys?'

"I know what you're thinking but I assure you after you see them in combat you might change your mind, Amon."

Zefu and Amon walked down the halls.

"It's your first day. I will assure your safety personally. It seems we get to follow the incident on Almond Street."

He looked at Amon mysteriously.

"How coincidental?"

'It's where I and him met what are the odds.'

Zefu continued his walk as Amon followed behind looking at blank walls.

"Since Sally has taken a liking to you she will be the one taking you there."

"This doesn't have anything to do with the demons that attacked recently does it?"

Zefu turned around to Amon with a smile.

"We can never be too certain, can we? Besides I figured since we met that you might find interest in the case itself. If you prove to be worthy I'll give you more information on that very case itself."

'What does he mean by worthy?'

"You can prove it by watching tonight you can get ready in this room right here. Meet up with the others in the meeting room when you're ready."

Amon blinked as Zefu had disappeared from his sight.

'How hard could it be to live watching other officers fight monsters?'
