Chapter 4: The Raven

05/06/2022

The Raven wore a long black cloak with buttons that seemed to be just for design. She wore a raven mask with white eyes. She stood with confidence and an odd sense of silence.

'Her scent is familiar, It could just be that she's a human. But I can't really take any chances.'

Aku quickly hid his face away, with his jacket nicely covering his face.

"My daughter will be assisting you on this mission!"

'What is this crazy bastard planning?'

Aku looked at The Boss's back as he turned away, in short laughter. But stops suddenly as he looks back towards Gunther, who is still on the ground.

"Gunther?"

"Yes Sir?"

"Go get Aku's things."

Gunther quickly got off the ground and entered the door the Raven was still standing in front of. The Boss's smile is still prominent as The Raven stays silent. He stares into Aku's eyes, giving Aku a shiver.

"Is something wrong, Aku?"

Aku's muscles stiffened in his body, trying to muster all the confidence in his body.

"I don't believe I'll need The Raven Boss."

"Do you think she is a weak human?"

The Boss sat next to The Raven with his smile back being as big as ever. A moment of silence passed by.

"Father? Allow me to show my worth."

His smile creaked as if his teeth had grown.

"Why, Go ahead!"

Aku felt the air around the three of them change as The Raven held the handle of her scythe on her back.

The Raven tilted her head in an odd gesture.

*SKF*

Aku looked around frantically as she suddenly just disappeared.

'With such speed, there is no way she is human!'

*Swink*

Aku looked at his arm as part of his jacket sleeve was cut. His eyes widened slightly, seeing the precision of the cut.

'She could've cut it clean off?'

Aku gets in a more relaxed position hearing The Raven jump around him off the two buildings.

The Raven jumps off towards Aku's right side as Aku looks over. The two make eye contact. The Raven stops suddenly staring Aku down. She put her scythe away slowly.

"Fight back."

The Raven readies herself with her fist out in front of her.

'She was able to notice?'

Aku looked at The Raven earnestly. He put his hands inside his pants pockets. Aku lunges into the air while still trying to keep his face covered.

"You're footing is off!"

Aku's foot lands down on The Raven as she blocks it with both arms causing her to be pushed back a bit.

'This is risky but I want to see what she's capable of if I have to work with her.'

The Raven spins, kicking Aku back a little as he still holds his ground.

'Still keeping my face covered will not be fun.'

Aku pulls one of his hands out of his pocket, holding his jacket over his face better.

The Raven rushes at Aku throwing punches left and right, picking up speed after each one. Aku swiftly dodges all attempts as he kicks her in the abdomen with one leg jumping up and kicking her in the face with the other.

The Raven starts to tip over from the kick as she backflips and lands hunched over a bit.

"You're not that bad for being one of my father's pawns!"

The Raven starts to lean to the left.

"Let's see how fast you are?"

Once again, she basically almost disappears with her inhuman speed.

*SKF*

Aku watches as she bounces from wall to wall with such speed.

'She's even faster than early!'

Aku guards himself better than before as he repeatedly gets punched.

'She's fast...but,'

Aku takes a deep breath as he listens intently.

'She's not faster than the sound she's making nor her scent.'

Aku brings his fist up, staring at The Raven dead in the eye.

His fist starts to make an impact on her chin. Aku looks over at The Boss as he uppercuts his daughter. However, something was wrong.

'Why is he smiling?'

"Checkmate you demon!"

The Raven's words echoed through Aku's head as she disappeared at an even faster rate than before. Aku felt an immediate impact to the left of his jaw.

'So she is that fast?'

Aku felt blows all over his body as he could tell where The Raven was at this point.

'I got him. I got him. I got him. I GOT HIM!'

The Raven, filled with pride, continued her onslaught.

"Do you get it yet, Aku?"

The Boss yelled so Aku could hear him over the onslaught of punches.

"She's not just Human!"

'No shit!'

"She was a part of the D.E.O's experiments. They made many hybrids, some failed, and some were quite successful."

The Boss smiled watching Aku be beaten down.

'Wait does he mean she's a-'

"She's half-moon demon and half-human!"

The Boss stood up with his lankiness teetering.

"So Aku, tell me is that enough motivation to use what you were born with?"

Aku sat there taking the beating in silence as The Boss watched him in distaste.

"Damn you."

As Aku's words are heard, the atmosphere around him and The Raven change. The momentum felt a change as well. The Raven came in as fast as she could towards Aku, hoping to land another punch.

The Raven's fist edges near Aku's face, but Aku turns his head as she makes eye contact with him. She hesitates for just a moment.

'His shiryoku he...he only bears one?'

She looked into his Left eye, and she saw nothing but fear and pain. It began to fog out slowly like a dark hollow smoke. But at a moment's notice, she found herself caught by the throat.

"You got greedy."

Aku looked over at The Boss with intensity as The Boss's smile was so large and filled with happiness. Aku's right eye was closed as his left one was nothing but dark space and a small black fog coming out of it like it was set ablaze. Aku raised his other hand slowly away from his jacket. As his eye meets The Boss's eyes, he swings his arm towards The Raven's neck.

*Crack*

Aku looked at his arm, which was now deformed as almost every bone in it broke. His eyes met The Boss again.

"I can't have you killing my daughter now can I?"

Aku starts to feel like the air is pushing him down as The Boss stands up. He drops The Raven as he is brought to the ground. As his body is pushed into the cement and then through the ground.

"Do you forget who I am?"

The Boss walked over to the hole Aku was in.

"I'm The Boss."

Aku crawled out of the hole and his left eye was back to normal. As he was at The Boss's feet.

"Y...yes sir."

Aku's clothes were ripped and dirty. His arm was fully healed now as he slowly stood up in front of The Boss.

The Boss looked at him with a large and creaking smile.

"I understand...Boss."

As Aku's words left his mouth Gunther came running out with a long suitcase. As he handed it to Aku, he slightly chuckled, looking at Aku's state. The Raven came to a stand now, walking to where The Boss was sitting a moment ago.

Aku opened the suitcase and looked at a black jacket and the black bottom half of a skeleton mask. He took off his jacket as he put the new one on, which went to his feet. It had a blade holster on its side that almost blended into the jacket. He slowly put the black skeleton mask on which only covered the bottom of his face, but his hair covered a lot of his upper half anyways.

Aku looked at the one and only thing in the suitcase.

"They say that katana is still one of the most dangerous in the world."

The Boss said with glee.

"Said to be used by The Grim Reaper himself, a notorious Demon if I recall."

Aku's left hand twitched slightly, but his gaze was upon the engravings on the dark katana, as they said ダークデーモンブレード (Dark Demon's Blade). He stuck it in his holster as he walked towards the table The Raven was at. He grabbed the file off of it and started to walk away.

The Boss watched Aku walk away as he slowly turned to his daughter. He hunched over to her ear.

"Make sure he doesn't live."

The Raven then ran off to catch up with Aku as The Boss walked with Gunther back into the Building.

"Boss, why do you want him dead so bad all of the sudden, and why not just do it yourself?"

"Gunther, in a world like ours with Demons joining up with humans you cant ever be to safe. Besides do you know what the scariest thing you can see in something is?"

"Power?"

Gunther looked puzzled as The Boss took a small breath and then slowly looked back at him.

"No Gunther...It is Potential and as to why I don't just deal with him myself. What would be the fun in that, I could if I wanted and will if I have to."

The Boss's smile crept into the doorway along with him. Gunther looked back at the hole Aku was put in.

'Potential? Yeah right.'

Gunther closed the door behind him as the buildings that leaned onto each other seemed to make one as if the space between the two never existed.
