Chapter Four: Humanity Pt.3

“Addy, come on!! Let’s go!”

“Addy!”

The man was getting closer. But all I could do was stare. Every muscle in my body was tense as my heart raced.

"Angel Girl let's go please!!"

"Screw it." Diablo said, lifting me up. Diablo carried me over the shoulder as we all ran towards the exit. I then looked back at the man, as he had started running after us.

I felt heat from behind those glasses of his, a somewhat murderous heat. everything else froze besides us.

His glasses slid down the root of his nose as I stared into his eyes. A massive dark fire glowed brightly in the sockets of his two eyes. He then looked back at me and stared into my soul. I felt a warm sensation in my soul, then everything began to collapse; fire began to arise from every step that man took.

Everything began to feel dark and empty, as the fire devoured the store.

Diablo's steps became more constant as he gained some speed.

We then smashed through the doors, and all of the sudden the weight and pressure I had felt disappeared. Addy stood next to us.

"Diablo.." Aimi said nervously. "W-where's mom?"

Once Aimi had said something, it was when I actually noticed that June was missing.

"Crap!" Diablo yelled putting me back on my feet and began running back in.

"Diablo, you can't." I grabbed his shoulder stopping him. "It's too dangerous."

"Addy she's my mother and I care about her more than anything, so why the hell should I care that it's dangerous!"

“Come on. Diablo. Be sensible, the world needs you more than you'll ever know. June can wait till after."

“Addy, I don’t care how much the world may need me, I'm not waiting till after. You may be able to replace your mother but I'm not!!” I should’ve known that what I had said wasn’t gonna go anywhere with Diablo, for I knew how stubborn he could be. But him saying those words to me really hurt me. I lost my whole family back then. I had lost everything.

“Fine, go kill your self you bastard!! Aimi come on we gotta go! Now!” I shouted running away as tears began filling my eyes.

“You’re brother can be so damn inconsiderate.”

“I know, and I'm sorry he hurt you.” Aimi apologized on his behalf. But it wasn't her place to shine, and I felt sorry that she had to apologize for him every time.

“Do you always apologize for diablo?”

“I guess you could say that.”

“Well you should stop apologizing for him, let him learn to say himself.” I said as we got to the car.

“You’re probably more than correct, but I guess it can't be helped.” She said, opening the door.

As Aimi opened the door, a loud noise came from behind us as I felt a large heat wave arise all around us.

I turned around to the sight of a great explosive fire. The whole mall building was burning. I walked closer to it as Aimi tried to stop me. I closed my eyes and focused on any sign of life, but there was nothing, not one human, cat or dog.

Everything then felt empty yet heavy. We were going to meet an inevitable death, for our only key to saving the world was dead, burned in the flames of a demon. A son and his mother, dead and gone.

A box of matches came flying out of one of the high windows of the building. It softly fell as it landed in front of me.

My eyes teared up more, as I began to cry, it was over, my mission, my destiny, my life.

I failed.

The sound of sirens entered my already ringing ears.

In the distance I heard Aimi shouting. Two men and one female surrounded me all in the same uniform. They had then locked my hands behind my back and shoved me into the back of a car.

“Addy! Let her go! She’s innocent!” Aimi yelled, banging on the window.

Everything to me just felt muffled and silent. I had lost hope. The car drove away, leaving Aimi to stand alone in the parking lot.

The further we drove, the more danger she had grown in.

                                                                                             . . .

“What do you mean there is no record of her? What kind of station are we?!”

“I am more than sorry Ma’am, all we know is that her name is Addy.”

“Right, you did bring the other girl that was with her for question too right? She was the only other witness afterall.”

“Yes, she was brought in after we left.”

“Good, bring her in.”

The two guard-like people then left for another room, as we continued to walk down the hall. I looked over at Aimi.

“Keep it moving.” The guard behind me gave me a slight push.

We then entered an empty room. In the room stood a table and a large mirror to the side. It was like a little hotel room.

The guard then chained my hands to the table, and left the room. I waited for fifteen minutes, maybe more. A man then entered the room. He was tall, had shaggy black hair and his eyes looked dead inside. He grabbed the chair across from me, twisted it around and sat backwards in it.

He took off his jacket and quickly lit a cigarette. He was dressed formally as if he was supposed to be on a date or what not. He seemed the most displeased with me.

“Addy is it?” He asked, blowing smoke in my face. I turned away from him and kept quiet. “So this is how it’s gonna be.”

He stood up and pounded both of his hands on the table. I didn’t move an inch nor did I jump.

*Tsk* He then smashed his cigarette into the table.

“Listen here you punk!! I’m not gonna take the littlest bit of shit from you so you better fucking answer me!!” He was angry, but I still said nothing. I wasn’t that I didn’t want to, I just couldn’t, for what was the point if we were all about to die.

“What the caused you to burn the whole fucking mall down!? What was your motive?” My body twitched a little for the thought that they had said I burned down the store.

The man then smiled. “Ya know from the day I first saw you I knew you were suspicious. I work for the higher ups and I have a record for everyone in this county, but yet I don’t have one for the so special, Addy Anahera.” He then gave out a little laugh. “I’ve heard about you. Enrolled in a certain school only to have it explode a few days after your enrollment. And now this.” He then grabbed the collar of my shirt. “So tell me you’re goddamn motive you punk!”

He then let me go and slid a few photos onto the table. Each one was different. There was one which looked like it was from the school camera from right outside the doorway of the gymnasium.

“You’re right here in this photo, right before the whole gym area blew up. And there is this kid.” He said pointing at Diablo.

“So mind telling me who he is? Or even better yet where he is?” He said with an evil smirk on his face. “Sooner or later pretty girl, I’m gonna make you break.”

“Why don’t we call this interrogation quits as I give you a break in the face!?” A woman yelled as she busted the door open.

“Yes, Captain! Sorry Captain!” The man who was asking me so many questions seemed puny compared to her. The woman he addressed as “Captain.”

Was she a Pirate Ship leader or something? I didn’t understand the reference of a Captain. I had only seen one other captain throughout my time here and it was a cartoon character on a cereal box.

“I’m sorry Addy Anahera, for the inconvenience that is.” She said looking at the tall man as he put on his trench coat and lit another cigarette.

“I’ll be heading out.” He said, slipping past her.

“Ace, get your ass back in here this instant!”

“Dammit Captain.”

“Ya wanna say that again? And perhaps to my face this time.” Ace then walked right up to her. He then clenched his teeth and looked her in the eye.

“Dammit Captain.” Then in an instant she smacked him as he planted his face into the wall.

“Addy again, terribly sorry for the inconvenience, but I assure you it was all necessary. Now to the topic at hand.” She then closed the door, sat across from me and closed her eyes.

Addy Anahera 2nd grade assassin in the Heavenly Court.

“Wait, what?!”
