Chapter Seven: Sparkles and Sunshine Pt 2
Everything was dark. Quiet.
*smash*
"AHH!!" I woke up to the sound of a kid smashing plates on the ground. It was the same kid who had reached out for the stars once before.
I began to question my existence, I was shot in the stomach and bled a lot, so I thought I would've died.
"Oh you did- uhm well actually we all kinda just got here so you were just dreaming. You're fine don't you see." He seemed kinda strange but I guess he wasn't wrong. My body was fine, no blood, and my guts were in the right places. So it must've been a nightmare.
"A big nightmare."
"What.." He was picking at the pieces of the glass plate on the floor.
"I can hear the thoughts of others and see a few seconds into the future."
I looked away, shaking my head and began walking to the door. There isn't such a thing, powers aren't real. He was just another annoying dumb kid obsessed with the stories of superheroes.
"That's rude, I should be able to believe what I want."
"Well you shouldn't believe in that! I mean look where we are, our only hope is that god will do something to help us."
"I can't stand that you believe that asshole. Your parents are dead for his sake."
I looked at him with a self questionable look at first. Honestly seeing what he meant.
"Because I'm not wrong. Don't you think he'd do something by now?? We've all lost everything, Our parents, family, friends, pets.. At least some of them." He smiled as a fat fluffy albino rat crawled out from his sleeve.
"Ewww- What is that?!" He then looked at me with the utmost disrespectful, disgusted, dirtiest look ever making me want to think over my life choices.
"Okay, sorry.. But you are wrong. If you just have faith in the lord he wi-"
"..will save us from these sinners and ascend our loved ones?"
"Exactly!!"
"Please shut up.."
"You don't get it do you?" I felt unnerved, we're in heaven but he still didn't believe in God.
"No!! You don't get it!! Our freaking parents were killed right before our eyes!! No child should have to face something like that!! God isn't who you think he is!! He would just let that happen!! You need to get that through your thick skull you brain dead peapod!!" I felt extensive sorrow within his eyes. I had nothing to stay. Everything was still.
My mind felt heated, I couldn't stand this kid. I ran to the door as it then busted open launching me to the floor.
"Lucky we didn't kill you kid." It was the same guy as before, the one who shot me.
"Now on your feet brat! Get outside!" I followed him outside of the cabin, as the kid with the white hair stayed behind and from there we entered into the courtyard.
The day was sunny, hot, and humid. Kids were digging trenches, others carried large sandbags and some kids were even breaking apart rocks with big metal sledgehammers.
He then handed me a shovel and pushed me into the trench with other kids that had been digging for a long while.
"Get to work!!" A guard yelled from above the trenches.
"I can't do this anymore!!" A little kid yelled, he was sweating, his hands were blisters and bleeding. Heavily breathing, exhausted. At the same time another kid collapsed.
"He's dead." A little girl replied, checking his pulse.
"You know what to do."
"Y-yes.." She was hesitant, but then dragged the body of the trench. As my curiosity peaked, I looked up out of the trenches to see what he meant. And as curiosity killed the cat, I fell back. Horrified.
There isn't a pleasant way to describe what I saw, but fire. A huge bonfire, but it wasn't fueled by wood.
Amongst the fire, laid a pile of children who had died or were killed.
"Agghh!!!" I screamed in terror, because I knew wasn't dreaming. We had been captured, we had been taken, and our families. Killed.
