Chapter Two: Heartfelt Lies Pt. 3

03/31/2022

This was it. My first actual fight. Something I would never have to deal with again.

The instenity was great, anxiety creeped up on my back. In my mind I thought of every possible outcome, and every single one seemed to end in defeat or even death, which is what I believe he was going for.

I stood myself up and got ready for the worse. He smiled with his pearly white shark-like teeth.

He then launched the biggest fireball I had ever seen at me. Which wasn't exactly hard to do because I never actually even seen a fireball before.

I had then felt like a goomba during my first encounter with Mario. I felt the temperature around me increase.

I then ran towards the fireball with a greater speed and used every muscle in my body to launch myself over it. I made contact with the ceiling and sent myself flying towards the kid.

I then positioned myself and took him down, and landed the first blow.

"You ignorant piece of shi-" I then punched him in the face.

"Watch your language." He then threw me across the room and slammed me into the wall.

"Stay put!" He said as he smirked and turned towards Addy and Leo who were heading out of the gym. My anxiety increased more as he began creating more fireballs. These were smaller fireballs and they didn't grow any bigger in size. But from what I saw, and the heat I felt, he didn't even bother to use half of his strength on me.

The fire was so intense, I didn't understand how he hadn't been burning up from his own powers. The color glowed brighter and brighter until it was white as the heavenly gates. But as it got brighter it became hotter. I could see the ground begin to melt, I felt the heat from the inside. And I could sense that Leo and Addy felt it too. The shape of the fireballs began to change as well. It had become more sharp with more rigid edges.

I sensed his power, but the worst part was that this wasn't even a quarter of what he could do. And I knew we had to put an end to this.

"ADDY!!!" I shouted from across the gymnasium climbing out from the wall. "GET OUT OF HERE... NOW!!!" She nodded and ran for the door dragging Leo behind her.

"Screw off Diablo!" He shouted as he launched every last of his power at her.

"NO!!!" I then ran as fast as I could and I could see time slow down around me. I felt every single second, every breath. I felt the heat of the fire, yet it wasn;t radiating, I could see the heat waves. I could see every single detail. I didn't understand this power, but at the moment I couldn't care less but to save my friends.

I then grabbed Addy, and Leo and smashed through the doors out into the hall. Once I had stopped everything went into chaos. I felt the massive heat rise from all sides, I heard the smashing of the ground, it's sizzling scream as if it were crying out for help. The worst part was that I heard it coming closer and closer.

Just then Addy pushed me outta the way and ran into the gymnasium, I heard her yell out at the top of her lungs as a purple light shined out from the room. Everything then went quiet. She came out looking slightly more pale than usual. I wanted to ask her if she was okay, but I was too exhausted to say anything.

She then used her magic to create a portal that led to some dirt trail. This was the end of our first battle, but the start of something bigger.

"Okay, let's go!" She said as she jumped through, I then followed after her and landed on my feet. I then looked back with a happy smile that this event was hopefully forever over. Then I realized that was a decision made too soon. I called out for Leo to jump through and as he was about to, he was looking as cheerful as ever. Then, outta nowhere he was snatched.

"Leo!" I ran towards and jumped. All of a sudden it had closed. And there I realized, I had lost my closest friend. "What did you do?! Addy open that back up right now!" I yelled as I got back up on my two feet.

"I didn't mean to." She replied.

"What do you mean you didn't mean to?!" I shouted.

"I'm sorry..." Her voice was weak, matter of fact, she was weak. She then collapsed and fell to the ground. She was paler than ever. I had then seen the blood. A lot of blood. It was pouring out of her side. I then ripped my shirt and wrapped it around her keeping pressure applied to the wound. I picked her up and ran to my house, which surprisingly was really close to where we were.

I then burst through the door, and laid Addy down on the sofa. She was breathing heavily, still as pale as before. I then heard the sound of footsteps running down the stairs.

"Who's there?" My mom asked, holding a baseball bat. Normally I would've just laughed at her, but I didn't feel like it, I couldn't feel. I had lost my best friend and my only hope of possibly getting him back and fixing this whole problem with my life was slowly dying in front of me.

"What the heck happened here?" She asked as she looked down the couch where Addy was laying.

"I'll tell you later, just please help her."

"Yeah." She answered, rolling up her sleeves. She went down to her room and grabbed the first aid, she then did as much as she could to help Addy.

"Okay now I want answers. Like who is she?"

"Her name is Addy Anahera."

"I don't know who that is. This tells me absolutely nothing!" I could see the worried look in her eyes. I could see her pain, and at the same time, I felt it. "I have been worried sick! Your school had just blown up, and there were some really bad injuries, some kids even died." She was trembling, anxious, scared.

"Mom, I... I'm sorry." At the moment that was the only thing I could say. She then wrapped her arms around me and began to cry.

"I thought I had lost you." I hugged her back and began to tear up. At that moment I realized that my mother's love was more special than anything, I saw how much she cared. And I saw the fact that I really could've died. This wasn't a dream or a game. This was life or death. I had to get real with it. I have to live throughout all of this, and then hopefully my life will finally go back to normal. Back to normal where all of this can be seen as a dream, a game, a nightmare I had overcome. But for now, I had to fight.

Addy had been laid down on my bed for the night as my mom cleaned the stains off of the couch. I laid down on the floor and attempted to sleep, but I could not. I was scared and worried about everything. I didn't know what to do, or what would come next. I wished Addy would have woken up and explain everything to me, to tell how to end this nightmare, or to just have avoided it the whole time, but the idea was worthless. Pathetic.

Eventually, I passed out. But still I had nightmares

"Diablo! Mom said it's time to get up!" My younger sister yelled from the bottom of the stairs.

"Leave me alone!" I yelled back hoping for more sleep. Then I remembered everything that happened and knew that I had no time to sleep. For a moment I thought it was a dream again.

I then got up to check on Addy, she wasn't in bed anymore, hopefully she wasn't kidnapped or something. Unlike Leo.

I then went downstairs and heard my mom and Addy talking something over.

"Are you okay?" I asked Addy out of curiosity

"Yeah, I'm fine, thanks to your mom at least." She said as my mom gave a little smile.

"Where's Leo? Isn't he always around you?" My mom asked.

"Leo's had been taken." I said in a small voice.

"Oh, well he's probably fine."

"Yeah, he most likely hasn't been killed, yet at least."

"What do you mean yet?! You're telling me he's gonna die?"

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to intrude your thought that he's most likely still living, but yeah, they probably will end up killing him. And that doesn't matter right now."

"What do you mean it doesn't matter!!"

"I meant we just have more important matters at the moment!"

"He's my friend! And I'm not going to help you until he's okay and outta of this mess!"

"What more do you want from me Diablo!? I barely walk! My powers have been drained! And we are all at the brink of death! Your world doesn't have much longer! This isn't a time for friends or family! We need to-"

"Please stop." My mom interrupted with watery eyes. "I can't do this. I don't wanna have to lose anymore. I can't lose anymore." She stated as she put her hand over her heart. I knew she was right. I knew something was going to happen, something unimaginable.

"Mom." I said as I put my hand on her shoulder, to try comforting her. "There isn't anything to worry about. Because even if that end does come. At least we will be in a better place. Everything is going to be okay."
