A blue sky

Salt water

The wind blew across his face and his tears began to flee out from the socket of his eyes.

He watched as she fell to her inevitable death.

A white dress, soon to become red.

Forever destined to be alone. Forever destined to hurt the ones he loves.

A set of eyes never to look upon another.

He had no idea what to feel. Each and every day became more empty than the last.

A mysterious figure appears from the treetops as leaps down in front of the main man.

"How could you?!" He shouts at the figure as tears run down his cheek.

No response.

"Answer me?!" He swings a left hook at the shadow causing it to leap back

A smile appears on the shadows face.

"How do you think this is funny?! What is wrong with you?!" He falls to his knees. "I loved her more than anything.. How..could you..?" The man's vision blurred as he began to pass out.

Before the young man goes into the fateful rest he sees the shadow reach towards him as then it evaporates into mist.

"Ahh!!" He shouts as he awakens the next day.

Alarm rings.

Three missed call

He wears his striped pajamas

"Here we go again." He states as he gets up and goes outside.

Once he reaches the door the phone rings.

"Hello" He answers the phone

"Heya Love!!" A girl across the line says to the man.

"H-hey." He says in a shaky voice and he begins to tear up. "W-what's up?"

"Nothing, can't wait for our date today!!" She says to him excitedly.

"What date?" Was what he had responded with jokingly, as he cracked a smile.

She lets out a small gasp

"Don't you dare tell me you forgot!!" She yells

He laughs

"I didn't, just messing with you my love, I would never forget."

She smiles

"I knew you wouldn't have, I'm going to get ready now, hope to see you soon."

The call ends as he collapses to the ground.

"How many more times..?" He asks himself.

The man walks along the floor and looks into the mirror across from the sink. His reflection stares back at him.

"Tell me, how many more times?!" He punches the mirror as a crack forms along the frame.

The mirror is shattered, but the man seems to care no longer.

He washes his face and looks back up and the mirror seems fine, it is no longer broken or cracked, the lights then flicker and in the mirror he sees a dark shadow stand behind him.

As he quickly turns around to confront the shadow, the lights stop flickering and no longer does there stand the shadow. He turns back around and watches the mirror slowly break once more.

He gets dressed and walks out the door. His heart is pouring through his chest as he sees her staring back at her.

"How long have you been standing outside for?" He says to her

"Fifteen minutes so far." She says with a bright smile.

"Why so long dear?" he asked, watching her smile as if it were the last time he'll ever see it.

"Because I wanted to. What!? You got a problem with that!?" She yelled at him jokingly.

"I would never." He stated, as a small smile formed upon his face.

"Good." She said as she stuck her tongue out at him. She then turned around, stretched a bit and then turned her head back at him. "Well what are you waiting for? Come on, let's go!"

"Okay okay." He smiled

It was a beautiful day. They walked down the path of Harbor leading into the city. As they walked he looked around watching everything around them. He felt the scenery. The way the water washed in and out. The way the birds flew within the sky. He felt the motion of the sky and its clouds within him too.

But there was only one scene he cared for most and it was her. His heart felt full, just filled with her beauty. He loved the sight of her rose petal cheeks. He could feel the smoothness of her face. The way her hair flowed through the wind was absolutely graceful. Her eyes were a bluish green like a sea of water. He himself had a more impactful beauty, his eyes were the color of a midnight sun. a purple iris with the hinted tints of a shadeful sun. Her smile though was like a sunset. A natural beauty of her own. She was nothing more than glamorous.

They walked through the city. Each shop, and eatery were packed together. The path ways were spacious and enlightened. Made with gorgeous rocks and in graceful patterns which was a bit of a show off in the wealth of the little island that they lived upon. It was their day off and they had no interest in work or labor for the day ahead.

Like a commonfolk is how they lived with the choice of best interest living in our economic society we so call our home. They lived their days out together happily and joyfully with a smile on their faces.

The night soon arrived, there they stood in the middle of a dance floor, a town fair peace for tonight's festival. The moon glowed down on them as they danced their hearts away. He truly felt at home with her. Happily and together.

Being with her was more than he could ask for, he was a thoughtful man filled with insecurities. But she washed those feelings away. And he couldn't be more alive.

The day was coming to an end, as the two romantic soulmates walked along the ocean's end. The moon set across the skyline floating over the water. If it wasn't for its light and the stars in the sky, everything would've been dark.

"The best days of my life are always with you.." He said to her, letting everything out of his bottled up soul. "I couldn't imagine another day without you here with me now." He smiled and kissed her upon her head. " My darling, I love you.."

Her eyes filled with tears, and a smile peened on her beautiful face.

"My love, my heart, my soul, I love you more than anything and everything, I love you more than you'll ever know."

"Thank you for loving me.. My ang-"

The night sky then shattered as he became nauseated.

"Love?" She asked worryingly

"No, not again.. Not now!! Not yet!!" He shouted. He looked around dizzyingly looking for something or perhaps someone.

"Love you're scaring me, what's wrong?!"

And that's when he saw it. The shadow, he watched as it slowly creeped up on them. A blade like an arm. Or perhaps it held a blade, no matter how hard he tried he couldn't tell.

The man ran into the water as his dear darling followed, but their shadow followed along from behind. It then disappeared.

"I'm sorry love I didn't mean to scare you." He said with a soft smile.

"Don't do that again!" She cried.

He laughed utterly, shaking from mere cold or fright. Then from behind appeared the shadow once again. Then the man noticed the night wasn't over, it was still to continue. It had been hours on end and he was sure it had passed midnight, but the moon had never sunk below the sealine since they arrived.

The shadow appeared behind her, and then sliced, the man unthinking swung around and swapped places with his love. A blade stabbed straight through him as blood spread throughout the water for once in his life felt accomplished, happy that he was the one to go.

"Not any longer will you suffer.." His love then collapsed in his arms, that's when he felt the numbness within him, the shadow had anticipated this move of his and didn't care either way.

From what the man had thought he did was destroyed. The blade of the demonic shadow did in fact impale him but that didn't matter to him. The demon had succeeded in his torment,

The man's love laid deceased in his arms, the blade had gone through him and had impacted both of them. The shadow dissolved to nothingness as he left him to have his fateful love to die once again in his arms.

"I'm sorry.." He whimpered

"Don't be.. It wasn't your fault.." She said as blood oozed from her lips. She was always so forgiving, never hating, never holding grudges towards anyone or anything. "At least we both lived together till the end.. I love you." She said as she took her final breath.

"I- I love you t-too.." He said, holding her close to his chest and tears flowed once more. The moon had then finally deceased and everything was dark once more.

The man laid upon the sand and watched the sky as he awaited the next day.

He wakes up and the same thing happens all over again..

He gets ready as she stands outside waiting patiently. He's shaking as he reaches for the door.

"How many more times..?"

The man lived in a state of absurdity always trying again and again knowing there will never be another way out of his loophole. But even then he never gave hope.

"Why don't we stay inside tonight love? Just the two of us." He asked her with much doubt.

"I think I would enjoy that."

They stayed the rest of the day inside. The man got up and checked behind the curtain, as soon as the clock struck midnight. The moon had stopped once more, it starred at him with a murderous intent and he knew what was bound to happen.

*CRASH*

The sound of breaking glass shattered all around him, and he began to feel dizzy once again. The lights went out and the shadow appeared once more.

The man quickly grabbed a flashlight and a kitchen knife, he shined it in the direction of the shadow as it vanished as soon as he did so.

He then ran to love and stayed by her side once again.

"We need to leave." He stated but as soon he spoke it was blood shed once more. She had died in his arms another night. As she fell, he saw the shadow stare back at him, thus a part of its face peered through the dark misty blackness that surrounded its head.

A smile he had recognized but could not put a name or a face unto it.

He woke again, respecting the same cycle but he found hope from the night before, a light awakened in the darkness.

*Ding dong*

The clock struck again, but they roamed the city streets, lights floating above them, surrounding all around them. No shadow in sight. And for a moment the man felt relieved.

Then they flickered and slowly one by one they shut down.

"Sorry but it's time to go home now." Said an eldrly man who had run one of the street carts.

"What do you think you're doing!?" The man said walking up to him and grabbing him by his collar.

"I was ordered to turn the lights off when the streets were closing down, you're the only one here." The elderly man said with a worried look upon his face.

A shadow lingered behind the old man, smiling.

"Love.." She said quietly as she began to fall once again.

"No, no, no.." He began talking to himself as he let her down once again. Another death to another day.

Awake.. death.. repet.. awake.. death.. repeat.. awake.. death.. repeat..

"I know now.." He had gotten ready once more, and repeated the same story, but as soon as the elderly man turned the light off they ran to the nearest light each time. No shadow resented beyond the darkness and even then they stayed away from the darkness.

"Love, what are we doing?" She said with a little giggle.

"We're chasing the light." He said with a slight smile.

"Okay, I think it's just a little funny."

The two soon found themselves at a supermarket and he felt relieved. The moon was moving once more and they found themselves alive, both of them.

They danced throughout the alleyways and had joyful expressions on their faces, happy to be with each other, without the age of suffrage.

Then it changed, the dark misty aura revived as the lights began to shut off. Aisle after aisle.

"Stay away from the dark my love!" He shouted.

He went down the aisle of flashlights and home gear. He found a few flashlights and searched for batteries.

He searched for what felt like hours to him but yet a few seconds of panic.

He then found them and felt a sigh of relief as the last light shut off.

Footsteps, he had heard footstep after footstep. It was pitchblack, as he struggled to put in the batteries.

"Love is that you?" He called as he heard the footsteps grow louder.

He then somehow managed to fit in both batteries and turned on the flashlight without a second thought of hesitation.

The flashlight flickered on and off for a second before it had reached its designated takeoff.

There in front of him stood the shadow and he watched as it hissed in pain. The longer the man shined a light on the darkness it slowly came out of the dark aura.

The man could see a foot and forearm of the shadowy figure as well as the devilish smile from the night before.

It then dashed off throughout the market looking for the specialized victim.

He chased after it, not knowing where he was going exactly.

Then he saw her out of the corner of his eye. Standing there patiently waiting for his arrival, She stood in the light of the frozen food section.

Her hair glowed vibrantly in the light and dark. And she smiled as she saw the face of her destined lover.

As he walked slowly to her he heard the drainage of energy, the distinct sound of a generator being shut off. The lights dimmed down. Then shut off.

He saw the shadow again, as they both rushed toward the same glorious woman. One destined for her to live, the other for her to die.

He ran with the flashlight in his hand and shone it upon the shadowy figure waiting for it to potentially stop and perhaps run away.

But the shadow didn't stop, as it slowly suffered in pain from being shone in its true light. It smiled greater, as it sliced through her heart straight as he was too late. Blood splattered on his face as he soon was defeated once again.

The shadow peened at him demonically as she died in his arms once more.

*Ring Ring*

The day restarts and he begins his cycle once more.

He has been broken over and over, and has seen death after death. But this time he was ready. Today he was gonna end his pain. This torture.

The day played out like any other, they spent their time happily, enjoying the day, eating out, and smiling. At this moment he could care less about everything and anything all at once.

They then walked out to the edge of a cliff that soared above the sea. There he had laid eight torches and a small campfire. They sat there together till the moon stopped sinking below the sea.

"Why does the moon do that lovely thing? It always stops and I never get to see it go down." She stated.

"What're you talking about?" He asked worryingly whether she may have known what has happened to her everyday.

"I never pay attention to it when I'm with you." She smiled.

A breeze blew rushing their faces. The grass felt weeds danced around their feet as the fire showed itself to death's door.

It was dark once again, and man hoped it was the last time.

"Don't worry about it, love. Tonight we will watch the moon together, as it will sink below the sea line." He said with a positive aspect in his tone of voice.

He relit the fires and laid down some flashlights.

"What are you doing?" She asked curiously.

"I'm making sure you live till sunrise." He said smiling with an evil peen but with a good cause behind it.

The shadowy figure laid halfway from the bottom of the cliff. As it stayed away from the light for a few moments. The moon began to sink once more and the breeze became harsher. The fire went out along with the flashlights.

The shadowy figure creeped up on them. A man pulled out a red lightsaber from the supermarket. It may haven't been enough to kill any normal man or being but this being wasn't normal this being was a shadow and only light was it's downfall.

The shadow dashed trying to get paced the man as he swung with all his might knocking the shadow to the ground.

"Not today." Then the lightsaber lost effectiveness as the shadowy figure drained the energy away from it.

The shadowy figure appeared behind the man and shoved his face to the ground, with no hesitation of slight movement.

The man quickly grabbed the ankle of the shadow and pulled him down, stopping it from going any further.

"Love what is going on!?" She shouted in fright.

"You need not to worry, we'll be together soon!"

The shadow kicked the man in the face. As he became nauseous and slowly felt a blackout for a few seconds.

The shadow lurked closer to the man's love. Being more visible for whom it truly was, a man, a being, of true murderous intent.

The man awoke to her being strangled, he felt he had lost again and maybe her death was truly inevitable. He had lost everything and was forced to live the same day over and over again.

But something inside man had sparked like a fire to a forest and he couldn't live with himself to let her die before his eyes like this again.

He grabbed a blunt torch and smacked the demonic shadow in the side of the head. His love grasped for breath as he picked her up back to her feet.

The shadow stood back up furious as it had nearly finished its job.

It took the man to ground fighting for him to die, so it could accomplish its mission without prior circumstances.

The man took the torch and with a slight of hand friction lit it up. He then swung it into the demonic shadows face.

It didn't move.

Nor did it flitch.

The shadow laid there with its hands around his neck. The fire then extinguished from it's shadowy head and the hint of light from the torch showed the shadows true face.

"Who.. but why?" The face of the shadowy figure was the face of the man.

"Because I am you!" The demonic shadow spoke in a deep scratchy voice.

The man slowly began to realize everything.. from every moment he awoke he did live the same day over and over but it was never true reality.

Even though this was true the man still couldn't help it. He rolled of and began beating up the demonic shadow of himself.

"There isn't a point to this!!" It shouted in terror and distraught.

In these moments I could care less..

The sun began to rise but the shadow creature didn't fade away. It only pushed the man away and stood itself up.

"I cannot stand your ignorance! Is this what you believe to be reality!?" It shouted at him.

"I CAN STILL SAVE HER!!"

"Save her?! YOU'RE THE ONE WHO KILLED HER!! AND NOW YOU'RE RELIVING THE SAME DAY OVER AND OVER IN YOUR PUNY HEAD!!"

The man chose to ignore it. And would never stop believing that She, His Love, His Everything, was still the key to escaping his harsh reality.

To live another day with her unharmed was more than he could ask for..

"I'll show you." It stated in a dark voice as it creeped up on her.

"STAY AWAY FROM HER!!"

It quickly swiped its hand emotionlessly in front of her and with a gust of wind she flew backwards.

A blue sky.

Matched with the oceans sea line.

He ran and fell onto his knees at the edge of the cliff. Eyes slowly filling with tears.

The wind blew across his face but could blow away his sorrows. With a smile as she fell she mouthed the words, "I love you.."

A white dress soon to become red.

A pair of eyes never to meet again.

Sure man had finally been set free but at what cost.

The man's demonic replica appears from the treetops.

"How could you.."

No response..

"ANSWER ME!!" The man ran and attempted to harm his evil self.

"Don't you mean how could you..?"

The man then fell to his knees once more.. his hands shaking, himself shivering.

His vision was tense, along with every muscle that ran beneath the skin.

He saw blood amongst his own two hands but no harm fowl upon his body.

He slowly remembered every detail, every night.

He never saved her.. he was the one that had to watch die, because he was her cause of death.

...

THREE MONTHS LATER

...

"Do you think he'll ever set free?"

"Perhaps.. There was no declarative evidence in his case. It was just known that he had become insane and needed help; the cause may never be known."

"I wonder what had been going on in his head all this time."

"I don't know, but it has been three months since he acted up."

The man sat quietly in the center of a white room. Held securely within a straightjacket and chains around his ankles.

"Mr. Roswell! Today's your lucky day!" A warden called pulling out a set of keys.

"Is it truly safe for him to be set free?" Asked one of the guards.

"His time is over, he may be back though so be careful."

The man; Roswell, was lifted to his feet. They took off the straitjacket and led him out of the white room.

Still cuffed and chained he was led to the front room where they finished his releasement.

He was given new clothes, shoes, and essential needs. Then Roswell was sent on his merry way.

His face was shaggy and his hair was far too outgrown.

He then walked out the front doors of the asylum and returned home where he slept normally for once.

His routine was changed.

No notifications.

No missed calls.

Not even an alarm.

His home was dark and empty. He washed his face and shaved, taking good care of his personal hygiene.

He put on his shoes and left home. He walked amongst the people once again. Living life like everyone else. He shopped for necessary items with the ideals of an everyday person. He struggled with the basics of the economy as he wished for so much but with little resources they would never come to him.

He spent the night dancing by himself.

Smiling and feeling joyful by himself.

He felt freedom, and was happy.

The moon rose upon the sky but Roswell smiled at the natural phenomenon.

He sat upon a bench at the center of town in a small grassy park staring up at the moon's beauty.

The streetlights enlightened the surroundings around him.

He sat alone but he couldn't ask for more.

*BANG*

*Ahhh!!* People ran screaming

Roswell was soon startled by the loud unconscious gunfire as he slowly stood up only to fall down upon the moonlight.

His vision was draining and red seemed to be a vibrant color amongst his feet.

Roswell never spoke a few last words.

He never screamed in pain or in agony.

He only smiled.

As he bleed out beneath the light of the moon.

Once he hit his last breath a note was found within his pocket..

And there it stated..

..I loved you too.

THE END.
